Cindy,
I found the following on the internet, but have not
verified the sources mentioned. It claims to settle who Mose's Sr
Father and GreatGrandfather were. There are other internet sites that
trace Mose's ancestors back to Thomas Taylor Sr, born Abt 1498 in
England. Ffrom RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project

Moses Taylor's parents

" I have excerpts from the book Biography of Elder Alfred Taylor written and compiled by his son
William Carey Taylor Sr. in 1878 and revised and reprinted by his great grandson Wendell Holmes
Rone Sr in 1983. Sandi this is the same book that had the Joseph Taylor Bible records that I had sent you a couple years ago. Mr Rone states in April 1983, David White, a graduate student at Western Kentucky State University, from Scottsville, in researching another Taylor line; revealed to him some available information concerning Moses Taylor's parents in the Kentucky Bldg. It had been obtained from records in Craven Co NC by a Bowling Green genealogist, Nora Young Ferguson, and published by her in a book called "Family Records", in 1970. Securing copies of this information he immediately checked materials in KY, TN, IN, NC and MD libraries to verify its accuracy. The Genealogical Services Branch of the NC State Library, Raliegh, had the records of Craven Co available for study. Also, State Land Grants in the period 1728-1800 were at hand, as were copies of the wills of the father and the grandfather of Moses Taylor, Sr. It was also established that both these ancestors had come from MD to NC. Research in the Hall of Records at Annapolis and in the MD Historical Society Library at that the great grandfather of Moses Taylor Sr was Abraham Taylor, Sr (c 1661-1719). The last 3 libraries mentioned above were visited during the week of May 9-13, 1983 by Mr Rone. From the above information he deteremined that Robert Taylor, the son of Abraham Jr, and Dinah White, was the father of Moses Taylor, Sr. The DAR has corrected Moses service record from Private, VA to Patriot, NC, based on documentation that was sent in on a supplemental. And that he did not in fact serve in the Albemarle
Guards. They also stated that his service is proven by NC Revolutionary War Accounts Vol X, p 21
fol.3. I will send away for a copy of the documentation and supplemental application. This may clear
some of the links that has been thought to be to the VA Taylors." I hope someone can verify this.
Mike
